The Project

Issue:

Non-visible leak identified and repaired with minimal impact.

We were engaged to investigate unusually high water usage at a residential property complex. The owner had no visible signs of water pooling or obvious leaks on site.

Scope of work:

  • Carried out a thorough inspection using specialised leak detection equipment, including acoustic listening and tracer methods.
  • Pinpointed the leak beneath a tree — a location with no visible indicators at ground level.
  • Removed the tree and stump, and carefully excavated to access the affected pipework.
  • Identified a cracked fitting as the cause. The surrounding pipe was in good condition and correctly bedded in sand, making future leaks unlikely.
  • Repaired the pipe, reinstated the area, and completed a thorough site clean-up within a practical timeframe.

Outcome:

A hidden leak was professionally located and repaired. The plumbing system was otherwise sound, and the client’s water use returned to normal. The job was completed with care, efficiency, and consideration for cost and property impact.
