The Project

Issue:

Locating and bypassing a concealed water leak.

We were called to a property where the homeowner had received an unusually high water bill. Council had installed a temporary bypass meter to maintain water supply while the leak remained unresolved.

Scope of work:

  • Attended the site and carried out a detailed inspection using specialised leak detection equipment, including acoustic listening and tracer methods.
  • Focused initially on an area previously marked for investigation but found no active leak in that location.
  • Extended our search and investigated the property layout to determine the most likely path of the water service.
  • Excavated carefully at the front of the property and successfully located the underground water main.
  • Supplied and installed a new water main connected to the Council’s bypass meter, restoring a direct, leak-free supply to the home.
  • Avoided unnecessary ceiling or wall disruption, saving the homeowner further cost and complexity.

Outcome:

The homeowner now has a fully functional, efficient water supply and can expect normal usage on future bills. The job was completed with minimal disruption and without the need for internal access — thanks to accurate detection and a practical installation plan.
